The traditional process of manufacturing pocket spring mattresses at Avebury typically begins with the selection of high-quality materials, including steel wire and natural fibres such as wool and cotton. These materials are sourced from trusted suppliers and are rigorously tested to ensure they meet the required standards.

Once the materials have been selected, the production of the pocket springs begins. This involves feeding the steel wire through a series of machines that shape and cut the wire into individual springs. These springs are then heat-treated to increase their strength and durability and coated with a protective layer of paint or powder.
During the production process, the use of traditional methods is still prevalent at Avebury.
